Couple o' recs

I have three SGA fics and one Star Trek Reboot fic for your delectation.

First up, The Three Hunters by mirabile_dictu. This story comes with a kleenex warning but is so totally worth it in the end.

Second is another untitled BJ Friday fic by hestia_lacey. How does she get so much emotion into one scene? I am in awe!

Third is a cute fic by Punk, entitled Caught. This ends with a warm and fuzzy feeling, without being saccharine. Is nice :)

The Star Trek one is Kirk/McCoy, You Give Me Fever by ladycat and green. Kirk get personal treatment from his doctor...

Has fandom collectively made up its mind on an acronym or abbreviation for the Reboot yet?

I keep seeing more and more of AOS. Which I assume is the Reboot? But I'm not sure.

ST:R still makes the most sense to me.

AOS is meant to stand for Alternate Original Series, which I think is silly.

Also I have friends in AoS fandom (Age of Sail), so it confuses me, and as they (ST:2009 fandom) have so many other options to choose from, they could choose one of those, yes they could :o)

Also, I read your second comment as Age of Snail, which made me giggle. I've never actually heard of Age of Sail. Is it a book?

I could get into trouble now, as it's not my fandom, but it is my understanding that AoS/AOS is a catch-all for any fandom set during the Age of Sail, such as the Aubrey-Maturin series (Master and Commander) and the Horatio Hornblower series - i.e. both book/movie/tv fandoms.

Interesting article, thank you. I wonder if commercial sailing ships will make a comeback as oil reserves diminish. That would be quite cool, I think.

I'm from Pirates originally so I agree, the AOS has been throwing me for a loop as well.

I'm still mentally referring to it as ST, which is going to confuse someone someday because I don't mean TOS.

Yes, I like that one too. I've also seen ST:TOR (The Original Reboot), but I think it doesn't need to be that long.

I won't be involved enough with fandom to *really* care - most of my abbreviation are for marking stories in delicious. But still, settling on just one would make me happy too.

Yep, that Mira fic was so heart-breaking, I wasn't even sure she was going to make it all alright in the end! Really good.

I know! And I read it originally on her webpage, so there were no headers or warnings (or lack of warnings, as it turned out). It could have gone any way.

I'm glad I found the fic on IJ though. I'm allergic to LJ.
