Lots of folks have been asking how the Sword got back in the Sorting Hat for Neville to find. I think I found an answer in my ultra-slow-and-careful second reading:

'According to reliable historical sources, the sword may present itself to any worthy Gryffindor,' said Scrimgeour. This was when he was at the Burrow reading out Dumbledore's will.

There you go, then. Neville was a worthy Gryffindor and the Sword presented itself when required.

I am currently packing for a trip to Sheffield. I'll be gone a week, with no internets!!!
