Customer: "Hey. This should say '2025 League Champion.' It says '2024.' That’s wrong."
Me: "Right, that’s because that’s what you wrote on the form."
Customer: "No, I didn’t."
I slide the order form across the counter. He stares at his own handwriting.
Customer: “Well, obviously I meant 2025. Why would I be making a trophy for last year?"

I’m the teacher, checking on students as they work independently. One student gives me reason to pause. Me: Did you draw on yourself again? Student: <looking down at her pen-covered leg> Maybe? Sort of? Yeah, I did. Me: It looks oddly good. I make a mental note to have her work art into her future […]

(My toddler is a total parrot and her vocabulary is growing so quick it’s hard to keep track. Thankfully she hasn’t caught on to the many slips we make around her, and “eegit” – a colloquial form of idiot – is the worst word she knows since we usually try to mime, spell, or replace […]

(My wife had a weight loss surgery which did not go entirely well. She was sick vomiting for a full month leaving her very weak and dehydrated. She was eventually admitted to the hospital for care. On evening, my husband and I are out for dinner and we get to casually chatting with the other people sitting at the bar by us. We get to talking about the paranormal; specifically, how none of us believe in it, but how we all have one of those “obviously there are no such things […]

I’ve got a friend who has a very old soul. His favorite time periods are the 60’s and 70’s and we constantly joke that he’s a time traveler that got stuck in the present. One night, my group was joking about how he was born in the wrong time period, and I make the time […]

Read Not So Closed Minded, More Absent Minded

Our store closes at midnight on the dot. The closing manager sweeps the aisles looking for stragglers before locking the front doors. The registers stay open until 12:30 AM for the night crew to make purchases.
And all of this is preceded by announcements over the intercom every ten minutes starting at 11:30 PM that the store will be closing.
Last night, a customer was missed.

There's something really comforting in knowing you have a cat in your life. Isn't it so, fellow cat pawrents? When you have a live-in floofy emperor who dictates what you do, when you do it, and exactly how you do it - life becomes much easier.

Some people may ask themselves "Isn't it a crazy schedule to adhere to? Wouldn't it be too much to constantly go on a whim of someone else?", and we say to these people a loud, clear, meowing "No!". Living with a cat makes everything better. Why would we mind putting "Cute cuddling time" or "Snuggling meeting" into our calendars? Who would refuse that?

Having more cats in your life is never bad. On the contrary - it's the best thing a person can achieve. This is why being a Crazy Cat Lady is actually a compliment, never an insult. So, when you need more cats in your life? We usually turn to consuming cute cat memes. It's floofing funny, and brings more cat joy into your life.

Unfortunately, we know that we cannot adopt every cat that we see. We want to, but there is a limit. That doesn't mean that we can't help as many cats as possible. TNR - trap–neuter–return - oftentimes, this is the best solution. If you see a stray cat that is struggling, and you want to help, one of the best things that you can do for them is take them to a vet and help them get better. And although we know that not everyone can do this either, we certainly encourage as many people as possible to do it if they can.

That is what this person thought they were going to do - they just wanted to give this cat a quick TNR, and that is it. But the cat was too sick to be left outside again. It would not have survived on its own out there. So, this rescuer took it as a sign… that this cat was meant to be theirs.

Step right up, feline fam. Step right up and get ready to have your hearts warmed like the temperatures are rising outside. This week was a good week for the cat community, we took a lot of cats off the streets and out of the shelters and into their furrever homes. We write this same listicle (or something like it) every week, and yet, we never get tired of it. We will never get bored of seeing cats find their soul hoomans, and we hope you never will either.

Every cat saved is a win in our book. From adopting a senior blind cat to a teeny tiny kitten, each good deed will come back to these pawrents tenfold. We wish all these new cat owners nothing but happiness, long lives, and minimal 3 AM zoomies. Or, at least, minimally damaging 3 AM zoomies. Scroll down to read through all of these sweet success stories of kitties finding their furrever homes. And get a tissue ready, you'll need it!
