queenbarwench: (ruling the world)

Ok, I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] silver_etoile to explain the origin of my username.

My internet identity has been through several incarnations.

I was a bartender right from the week after my eighteenth birthday and, during my first year at college when someone labeled me as the Barwench, I decided to make it my own. My first online presence was as Barwench on our Debating Society forum at college. Very small community, hence my free choice of username.

When I came to LJ, plain old "barwench" was unavailiable, so I added my name on to make "barwench_tanya". That's my RL journal.

When I discovered the world of fandom I decided that I couldn't possibly add the fanfics to my RL journal due to the high probablility of my family (or friends with overly Conservative attitudes - yes, I know, but they're friends for other reasons) seeing them, so I started a new LJ as "queenbarwench", since we should all give ourselves the opportunity to feel like royalty occasionally.

I'm supposed to tag people now to expalin their username/penname... So I will tag [livejournal.com profile] enchanted_jae, [livejournal.com profile] moonflower_rose, [livejournal.com profile] frayach, [livejournal.com profile] jennavere and [livejournal.com profile] ferret_shocker. Apologies if you've already been tagged, and I won't be offended if you don't want to explain the Secret Mysteries of the Username to me. Happy UnBirthday, everyone!

Hi hon!

I love that you were a bartender. I was, too, when I lived in Ireland. Almost everything that I've learned about people and life, I learned from the behind the bar. Now I'm a part of a whole different kind of bar (the legal bar), but it's still all about people and what makes them tick. Not to mention the 5 o'clock martinis ;)

Speaking of Ireland, my penname is an Anglicized spelling of the Irish Gaelic for my name in RL. The correct spelling is "Fraoch ni Coill" but it's pronounced "Fray-auck nay Cuyill." I would have gone with the correect spelling, but it was already taken on LJ :-/

It was a spur of the moment thing, really...guided by the (actually rather useful) principle of keeping separate my normal lj, and my -squeeingoverfanfics- lj, I decided to create this.

What I really wanted was FerretShock, but that was taken already, and then I realised that since what I really wanted to do was *cause* ferret shock (to see what happens, obviously) I tried for and got Ferret_Shocker :)

...and all of that because I couldn't get Wonderwiggle to go with my e-mail address *sulks quietly*...
